UPWARD SOCCER August 16, 2008

I'm not personally a big soccer fan - something about scores like nil to nil just doesnt sit well with me - but that notwithstanding I had some fun the other day with my friends James and Marie at their son Malachai's soccer match. Youth sports are always fun because the kids havent learned to take themselves too seriously just yet!

This game was a part of the Upward sports ministry program which is available to churches all across the country.

Here are a few photos from the match...

CHRIS AND TRACEY GOT MARRIED!!! :) August 06, 2008

Tracey and Chris have the look of one of those couples who are really perfectly suited to one another. You can just see that in 50 years they will be celebrating yet another anniversary of this great occasion with their beautiful family!

Their wedding was held at the historic Shiloh Baptist Church in Washington DC and was simply a grand affair from start to finish.

The reception took place at the elegant Omni Shoreham hotel where they spared no expense in creating the perfect atmosphere with the help of magnificent floral arrangements by Convention Floral and the impeccable coordinating efforts of LeKhessa from With This Ring Designs.

As you can no doubt tell, this couple did their homework and know how to put on a wedding to remember!!! But enough of the preamble, here are a few shots from the day that I hope you enjoy:

DAVID AND MONIQUE AT STONE MANSION, ALEXANDRIA VA August 03, 2008

Stone Mansion was the setting for yet another fantastic affair recently as David and Monique tied the knot in the company of their closest friends and family members. The forecast was for thunderstorms but fortunately I was able to pull some strings and by the time the ceremony started there wasnt a cloud in the sky!

Seriously though this was one of those smooth weddings where pretty much everything went according to plan; the bride was beautiful and radiant, the groom was sharp as a tack, the food was delicious and everyone had a great time!

Here are some random picks from the day, hope you like!

SUPPORT THE 3 DAY WALK FOR BREAST CANCER CURE July 26, 2008

On a more serious note folks I thought I would take a minute to introduce you to a special event that is taking place on October 3-5 in Washington, DC.

The 3 Day walk benefiting the Susan G. Komen breast cancer foundation is going to be an impressive spectacle and a testament to the power and commitment of the participants, who will trek an arduous 60 miles over those three days in an effort to raise awareness and funding support for breast cancer research.

My wife Shari is participating this year and has been training for months in order to prepare herself to complete this physical challenge. Unfortunately many of us have direct experience with loved ones who have battled with breast cancer, my wife and I are no different after recently losing our mother to the disease.

We ask all of our readers to raise their awareness of this major illness and also to donate whatever you can to the cause in Shari's name - whether you can donate or not please wish her well in that 60 mile trek!

ALASKA - CANT WAIT TO GO BACK! July 21, 2008

What a great vacation - it's good to be back to the real world but this is a trip I would take again in a heartbeat!

SO I know, I'm probably making the cardinal sin of boring the world with way too many vacation pictures - but what the heck its practically an American tradition and who am I to break with tradition?? LOL

Humpback whales are cool creatures...

The infamous bridge to nowhere...

Sea lion and her cub on a floating buoy marker

Some shots of the Hubbard glacier - it's tough to tell but this thing is MASSIVE! I have a pano shot that really shows it better than I can on here which I think is destined to find a nice spot on my wall somewhere soon!

Totem poles

Some kids skipping rocks and playing around in Ketchikan

A hungry porcupine

A pod of beautiful Orcas were hunting seals and sea lions in Victoria BC

This fisherman got a close up view...

This Great Horned Owl was sleeping and I managed to get close enough for a tight shot just when it opened it's eyes and almost scared my pants off - this bird's stare must be a terrible last site for some poor mouse out there!

The soar...

The swoop...

The snatch!

The satisfaction...
